In this article, we will share some advice how to prepare your lead search to get the best results.

Remember the saying, "Garbage in, garbage out; excellence in, excellence out?"

This saying highlights the importance of quality input to achieve quality outcomes.

It's the same logic for your lead searches.

Therefore, we always advise you to prepare your lead search and do some research upfront.

What can you prepare upfront?

Your ICP and its job titles

Clearly define your ICP and how your persona can be found on LinkedIn.
Look up the job titles and come up with different variations, because job titles can have a different spelling on LinkedIn.

E.g.: If you are looking for an IT manager with a leading position, you could use the following job titles:

IT manager, IT-Manager, IT-Managerin, IT-Leitung, IT Leitung, IT Leiter, IT Leiterin, CIO, Chief Information Officer, CTO, Chief Technology Officer, Leiter Informationstechnologie, Leitung Informationstechnologie, Head of IT, Head of Information Technology,..

The list above should give you an idea how complex one job title can be.
You can first start by collecting the job titles that come to mind, looking up the email signatures of your customers, and, of course have a look at LinkedIn.

Your ICP and its industries

When you are looking for leads in specific industries, it's good to know where to find them and how they categorize themselves.

As we are a certified Google Maps partner, our technology uses Google Maps.
Google Maps offers more than 5500 different industries; some are broader, some are very niche. You should need to know which industry names are the right ones to find your leads.

The easiest way to get this information is by doing a little research based on current, well-fit customers.

1. Simply open Google Maps in your browser.
2. Enter the name of your customer's company.

3. Check the industry they have selected.

4. Repeat this logic for 5-10 customers, so that you get an idea of which industries to pick in your lead search.

Run test with little lead amounts

Moreover, to test the potential of certain searches, you can always test three or four different smaller searches, e.g. with 50 leads per search, to tap into the potential of the search.

The leads from the list can always be moved to another list so that they can be taken into account for AI Cold Outreach campaigns.
